Used Metso Mobile Crusher Procurement from Germany to Moldova
Heavy Machinery & Mining Equipment
Scope
Sourcing a used Metso mobile crusher in Germany, including OEM research, legal review, auction purchase and oversized logistics
In 2024, ArcMoni's founder supported a Moldovan aggregates producer with the procurement of a used Metso mobile crusher from the German market.
The project went beyond locating used machinery. It included market monitoring, research into the identified machine, direct communication with Metso, commercial comparison, legal review of the auction transaction, coordination of the buyer's inspection after purchase, and international oversized transport from Germany to Moldova.
The Moldovan buyer purchased and paid for the equipment directly through the German auction.
This case documents procurement work completed by ArcMoni's founder in 2024 before the ArcMoni brand was established.
Results
- Used Metso mobile crusher sourced, verified through direct OEM contact, and delivered to Moldova
- Auction transaction and documentation reviewed with legal support before completion
- Oversized equipment transported internationally via a specialist logistics and customs partner
- Equipment successfully put into operation at the client's crushed-stone production site
Client Requirement
The client was a Moldovan company involved in the production of crushed stone and required a mobile crusher for its operations. The sourcing objective was to identify a suitable used machine in Germany and assess the available procurement opportunity before committing to the transaction. Used heavy equipment requires a different procurement approach from purchasing standard industrial products. The buyer needs to understand not only the asking price, but also what machine is being offered, what documentation is available, what information can be obtained from the OEM, how the transaction is structured and how the equipment can be transported internationally.
German Market Monitoring
The German market was monitored for suitable used mobile crushing equipment. A Metso mobile crusher offered through a German auction was identified as a potential procurement option. Rather than treating the auction listing as sufficient information, additional research was carried out around the identified machine and its commercial context.
Direct OEM Enquiry
Metso was contacted directly regarding the equipment that had been identified. The enquiry provided additional documentation and information that helped build a clearer understanding of the machine. Metso was also asked for current commercial information because equipment pricing was not publicly displayed on its website. The information obtained from the manufacturer was used as part of the commercial comparison around the used-equipment opportunity. Indicative information concerning spare-parts costs was also considered. This did not constitute an OEM inspection or technical certification of the used machine. It provided additional manufacturer-level information to support the buyer's procurement assessment.
Commercial Comparison
The auction opportunity was evaluated in the context of information obtained during the OEM enquiry. The objective was not simply to compare two headline prices. The comparison helped the buyer understand the relationship between the used equipment being offered and the broader cost context associated with the machine, including available manufacturer information and indicative spare-parts considerations. No exact purchase price, OEM quotation value or savings percentage is published in this case study.
Documentation & Legal Review
Before the transaction proceeded, the documentation provided through the German auction and information relating to the seller were reviewed with legal support. The transaction documentation and purchase agreement were also reviewed. The legal review was intended to support the buyer's understanding of the transaction and its documentation before completion. ArcMoni's founder did not act as legal counsel. Legal review was performed by a lawyer.
Equipment Condition & Buyer Inspection
No independent physical inspection of the mobile crusher was performed before the auction purchase. The auction process provided documentation and video material demonstrating the machine in operation. After the purchase, a representative of the Moldovan buyer travelled to Germany and physically inspected the equipment. The buyer's representative reviewed the machine before the international transport stage proceeded. This distinction is important: the procurement process used the available auction evidence and documentation before purchase, while the buyer performed its own physical inspection after the transaction.
Direct Auction Purchase
The Moldovan company purchased the crusher directly through the German auction and paid the auction directly. The procurement coordinator did not purchase the equipment for resale. The commercial structure was therefore transparent:
Buyer
- approved the procurement decision
- purchased the equipment directly
- paid the auction directly
- performed its own physical inspection through a company representative
Procurement Coordinator
- monitored the German market
- identified the opportunity
- researched the equipment
- contacted the OEM
- collected supporting information
- coordinated the commercial comparison
- coordinated legal review
- identified a suitable logistics provider
- coordinated the international transport process
Specialist Third Parties
- the lawyer performed the legal review
- the logistics provider and broker handled transport and customs-related activities within their professional scope
Oversized Transport from Germany to Moldova
The mobile crusher was transported from Germany to Moldova as a single item of oversized heavy equipment. A logistics company experienced in this type of cargo was engaged for the transport. The procurement role included identifying the transport provider and coordinating communication and execution between the relevant parties. Customs and brokerage activities were handled by the logistics provider and broker. The procurement coordinator managed the process but did not act as the freight carrier, customs broker or customs authority.
Delivery & Operational Outcome
The mobile crusher was successfully transported to Moldova and delivered to the client's operation. The equipment was subsequently put into service at the client's crushed-stone production operation and was operational. The procurement project therefore progressed through the complete sequence from market search to real industrial use:
- Client Requirement
- German Used-Equipment Market Monitoring
- Metso Mobile Crusher Identified
- OEM Enquiry & Documentation
- Commercial Comparison
- Legal Review
- Direct Auction Purchase by Buyer
- Buyer Physical Inspection
- Oversized Logistics Coordination
- Customs / Brokerage by Specialist Provider
- Delivery to Moldova
- Equipment Put into Operation
Why This Case Matters
1. Used Machinery Procurement Requires More Than Finding a Listing
An auction listing can identify an opportunity, but it should not automatically be treated as sufficient procurement due diligence. Additional documentation, OEM information, transaction review and logistics planning can materially improve the buyer's understanding before and after the purchase decision.
2. OEM Contact Can Add Context to a Used-Equipment Purchase
The equipment was being purchased through the secondary market, but the original manufacturer was still a relevant information source. Direct communication with Metso provided additional documentation and commercial context that could be considered alongside the auction information.
3. Technical Evidence Must Be Described Accurately
No independent pre-purchase physical inspection was performed. The auction supplied documentation and operating video evidence, and the buyer subsequently sent its own representative to inspect the machine in Germany. The case therefore does not claim that ArcMoni's founder certified the machine's technical condition. Final technical acceptance remained with the buyer.
4. Legal Review and Procurement Are Different Functions
The procurement process coordinated the transaction review, but legal assessment was performed by a lawyer. For higher-value equipment purchases, specialist legal support can be incorporated into the procurement process without presenting the procurement provider as legal counsel.
5. Heavy Equipment Logistics Is Part of the Procurement Reality
A used mobile crusher cannot be treated like standard palletized cargo. The sourcing decision needs to account for the practical ability to move the equipment from the seller to the buyer's operating site. In this project, a specialist logistics provider handled the oversized transport and relevant customs/brokerage work, while the procurement process coordinated the parties.
What This Case Demonstrates for ArcMoni
Although the project predates the ArcMoni brand, it demonstrates experience directly relevant to ArcMoni's current Heavy Machinery & Mining Equipment procurement services:
